1. Make an appointment with your doctor or dentist as soon as possible if you experience any pain or swelling in your mouth. This will help to rule out other causes of the pain and make the medical process more streamlined.

2. Keep a list of all the medications, vitamins, and supplements that you take regularly in case they need to be brought to the hospital with you. If you experience any type of toothache, be sure to bring along your medication history and toothpaste tube/brush because hospitals will not allow you to take any type of dental treatment without prior approval.

3. Plan ahead when it comes to oral hygiene. Bring along any oral floss, toothpaste, mouthwash bottles, or razors that you may use on a regular basis in case they are needed at the hospital.

4. Create a dental Emergency Bag in advance so that all of your necessary dentistry supplies are close at hand if needed during an emergency visit. This bag should include items such as gauze pads, adhesive bandages, cotton swabs, hydrogen peroxide solution, and nitrile gloves.
