Prepare For A Difficult Airway

Difficult airway equipment can include laryngeal masks, endotracheal tubes, and mechanical ventilation. The best way to prepare for difficult airway equipment is to familiarize yourself with the different types of devices and their uses. You should also practice using the equipment in a safe environment. If you are going to be using an endotracheal tube or a laryngeal mask, it is important to know how to secure it around your neck.

When an individual experiences difficulty breathing, the first step is to assess their medical history and determine if they are experiencing an emergency. If it is determined that the individual is experiencing an emergency, the next step is to provide them with an emergency bag mask. In order to perform an emergency bag mask ventilation, you will need:

-An emergency bag mask

-A clear plastic cup

-A hose

-A bucket or liter bottle

-A towel

Once you have gathered all of the necessary supplies, follow these steps:

1. Place the emergency bag mask on your subject's face.

2. Fit the clear plastic cup over the mouth of the mask and secure it in place with the straps located on either side of the mask.

3. Hold onto the end of the hose and connect it to the bucket or liter bottle.

4. Turn on the water supply and wait until it begins flowing steadily through the hose.

5. Gently pour water into the clear plastic cup until it reaches their nose level.

6. Continue pouring water into the cup until your subject feels comfortable breathing through their mouth again (usually takes around 2 cups).

7. Lastly, remove the cup and towel from their face.
